Different 'focus' in forms training

Just skimming back through this thread... some really great thought-provoking posts... and also glad it was very civil and respectful, even though our approaches and mindsets towards forms may differ :)

Just reading through one of my old martial arts magazines, and reading a Tai chi article/section, thought this part was worded really well:

"The simple yet highly complex slow forms are used to teach the body flow, structure and to cultivate chi, while the martial forms teach the practitioner how to use that flow under stress. In many ways, the slow forms teach one to understand the fast forms, and vice-versa."

Nothing really further to add, just thought that was an interesting perspective :)
