A lengthy performance, cut into six parts, by this long serving Irish comedian. As a sign of the times, there is a fair amount of profanity in the routine - it was a bit of a shock for me, who watched his tv show when I was young, to hear Mr. Allen drop the F bomb as if he were Billy Connolly :).

Whilst he might not seem it now, Mr. Allen was quite cutting edge earlier in his career for he, having been brought up in the highly religiously factionalised land of Ireland, would take insightful pot-shots at the sacred cows of religion and belief. By today's strident standards these were quite gentle but, in context, it was a credit to his wit that his career blossomed when part of his observations was holding up the absurdities of some religious rites and beliefs.

Hey Mate. It wasn't that long ago was it? I mean I grew up with Dave Allen when he had black hair and the only glasses I saw were the whiskey glasses that never left his hand. Memory Lane! :)
