could set it up like forums, with a general section, chinese, japanese, korean, weapons, and kenpo sections (or whatever the more popular MT topics seem to be), and then a locker room section.

CKFonline tried to have a chat back in the day and like 3 people showed up. Your right though about a lot of people being online at once though, could be worth a try. Probably one chat room would be best.
What do you think kaith? Would it be hard to set up an irc.martialtalk.com? Or better just to get a channel on one of the big networks? Dalnet is on the fritz, I don't know about the others.

Ugh- I enjoy chat rooms except I can't type for $h!t. By the time I enter, the subject has changed completely.
what I used to do back when I couldn't type...
Let them know that if you type an ! and hit enter, you want to say something, and ask them real nice to wait for you because you type slow. Everyone was always nice about it to me, and my typing skills got better fast, because I didn't like everyone waiting for me.

So are you thinking IRC or something else?
Not IRC. Too server intensive and too many security and other concerns. We're investigating our options and will be doing some private testing during March I expect. Probably be a JAVA based sollution.
Cant say more right now as, I'm not that far into the R&D at the moment.
