Been a long time since I posted in the blog….
Been thinking about my pending retirement, and my possible pending shoulder surgery…..also been bingeing Jesse Enkamp videos…learning some things from them. One of those things is, if the hand to hand combat trainer for the Navy seals says Taijiquan is a great martial art…who am I to argue
However the whole tentative retirement plan comes down to the shoulder. If surgery and if it recovers well…then ideally, retirement, will me having more time for Martial arts.
I am already back getting a refresher with my Taijiquan Shifu already, and the push hands group is still going, but it was rough last time due to the shoulder.
Quick side note about Taijiquan class. Last class a student was asking my Shifu what a specific move was for, the rest of the class looked to Shifu and he was not quick to respond (he's almost 90). I asked if they meant this move, and showed them what the application was. Looked at Shifu, and he was just sitting there smiling. They asked me where I learned that…I pointed a Shifu….I trained with him long before any of them started...
But back to the dang shoulder, depending on what happens with the shoulder, if there is surgery and it recovers well, I would like to return to my Wing Chun Shifu too, I would like to give Kobudo a try since I found the dojo near by. And, this may come as a bit of a surprise to some, the Kobudo school also as a 50 and over Karate class, I am toying with the idea of that at some point as well,
But I have to get through the shoulder stuff first, then ease back in. If it all works, I doubt I will stray long or far from my Chinese martial arts, but if I have the time, and I will, why not give at least Kobudo a try. I have been interested in Kobudo weapons for many many years.
Well… that’s enough from me.
