Someone sent me that too... The information given on both sides is correct, but slanted; depending on who said first, it's slanted toward one side or the other. Look here and here for more details.

Personally, I vote for candidates (or against, if there's no one to vote for) based on their record - not based on the media hype and half-truths sent forward by their opponents and proponents. Other people have different systems. Whatever you think of the process - it's better than not having a choice, so no matter who you decide to vote for, make sure you do vote.

Obama AND McCain haven't really been closely scrutinized by the media. I'm sure a real journalist could dig some **** up on both, but it will never get published in today's corporate media.

I dunno, since I don't plan on voting this year anyway, but that might change. Does that make me unpatriotic?? Probably but I don't think so, since I'm still willing to lay my life on the line for my COUNTRY (not my government).

If they are true then they'll cost the man some votes come November. If they aren't then they'll be inconsequential don't you think? They'll probably help the man more than hurt him.

As for an offensive post, I would think that folks would've figured out it not intended to be so. The button quotation is just that, a quotation that is NOT my own but that of the Republican party trying already to smear their opponent. Doubtless the Dems will do the same after their own fashion. Thus my tongue in cheek warning about getting out large plastic sheets to protect yourself from the stuff that's going to be flying around throughout the campaign.
I've long been disgusted with the voting, campaign process since I've been old enough to cast my ballot(s). I'm surprised at the fact that I'm even participating in any political discussion at all.

The difficulty lies therein is the choosing of the lesser of two evils. Mainly because that's all we've been given over the last 10-15 elections. If there were more choices then hey... sign me up and stick me in a booth.

-I'm a registered independent, mostly because when I moved to Colorado, they forced me to choose a side. Yet this system of gov't often seems to be very one sided. The lesser of two evils? That may be what it boils down to. I have my issues with both Dems and Repubs. Its all so confrontational, especially with the wedge issues, it seems no one in gov't want to sit down and work things out, forgetting the fact that we are one country. (Maybe its time to give that up...might start a thread on that.) For me, I don't overly know much about Obama. Think I know too much about McCain. Everything I have seen has lead me to looking at this upcoming election like this: if McCain is going to continue, even if only in part, a 3rd Bush/Republican Presidency, I would just assume try something different. Both McCain and Obama could really screw up this nation even more than it is, but I guess I'll go with the other 'evil', just to try something new.
