 That really brought out the laughter I do confess ... especially when the criminal was dragged back inside and out of camera shot ... I added my own cartoon fisticuffs sound-effects at that point :D.

In the convenience store robber's handbook, page 5 it clearly states "check the place for cops", right there in bold print. This guy must not have read the manual.

You guys know this is fake, right? Unless police procedures now include sticking a gun in someone's neck and walking with your hands in your pockets.

No..it's real. Just bad tactics. Officer is lucky but a success in the "any landing you can walk away from is a good landing" meaning of the word.

Would a video like this land the officer in hot water or would it simply get him laughed at by his peers?

We actually viewed this video in briefing yesterday. No one really laughs at cops in this type of situation, unless something really hiliarious ensued and the officer remained unhurt.

It would likely be a training issue with our department. He likely got caught up in the moment and did the first thing that he thought of at the time. We would then attempt to condition a new response.

These types of things don't happen everyday to an officer, so when they do, it's kind of a surprise. Couple that with the fact that his mind was on being there for an entirely separate reason could lead to mistakes in tactics.
