once i get relocated to the denver area next year, i'm planning on checking out a hung gar school there. my primary interest in kung fu styles is weapons training, although empty hand hung gar looks like it would be a good fit for me as well. i understand that there will be some variation from school to school, but at what point is weapons training generally introduced in hung gar? what are the first few weapons usually taught? i'm hoping for various sword styles & maybe *fingers crossed* some kwan dao, but i assume some sort of staff will be taught first.

thanks,

jf

Although i'm not a Hung ga stylist and most schools curriculae differ from one to the other
gwan(kwan) dao is usually taught at an advanced or maybe intermediate level. At our
school the weapons taught at beginner through intermediate levels are staff, broadsword,
and spear. But like i said every school is different.
