umm... how can this NOT be political?

Lineage discussions are almost always messy, and always political in nature....

By keeping it to who trained you and thats all.
Like myself my father W.R. stoker Sr afterward Gin Kim and after that Jim Kim there have been a few more that has helped along the way but they are the one that had the most influence on me. Notice no association or any group just the names of the people that trained me.

A few questions before I post-

Are you asking for rank under them, or just association via training?
I have many instructors that certain circumstances, I did not train with long enough to obtain rank-shall I list them as well?

Do I list them only and not their styles?

47 star just, the instructors that trained you mot a week or at a seminar, rank is a plus but not always was given. Try to understand the one's I listed are the one that instructed me and had the most influence in my style.

Ok many of the people who imfluenced me I learned from at seminars. Does this count? Considering at a 3-4 day camp or even a weekend seminar you might get six months of material to work on, don't they have an influence? I guess I'm asking if you train in a person's system and you practice or teach their system and you do that by attending several camps over the years than would they (the instructor) qualify. Or are you wanting the instructor who you trained at their dojo on a weekly basis.

Your cases are valed so list them, just interested in the many different ways that people have trained thats all and in most cases it is a small world and you would not believe who has trained with who.

I have looked at this post several times and debated contributing to it more than once because I did not want to be involved in a finger pointing or political affair. I will share a list with you of the people that have been involved in my training over the years wether through a seminar or direct training. It is a brief list but all have helped me greatly.

Mr. Tony Penna
Mr. Robert Weinberg
Grandmaster Eizo Shimabukuro
Dr. Jwing- Ming Yang (seminar)

That's it. Look forward to other peoples responses.

These have been the main teachers/contributors/influences on what I teach and practice today. Although there have been a lot of other people who have worked with me on the side at camps (training late at night and all), or my main work out partners, students etc. etc. that have influenced my journey as well.

My Teacher : Saiko Shihan Y. Oyama

His Teacher : Mas Oyama

His Teacher : Giko Funikoshi

I believe Mas Oyama had other Teachers as well, if I am recalling correctly I think one was a Goju Master.

Beyond this I really don't know, I need to further research this.
