The always useful front kick

I think in most applications it's replaced by a side or back kick, from the mechanics they have a slight advantage over a front thrust...

In some aspects you have a point, but I don't believe it has advantages in every situation. I think mechanically the front kick is probably more efficient (if that makes any sense) like there's fewer steps or simpler steps involved to execute it. Also I think in a lot of instances (like from a fairly neutral walking style type stance) it's easier to throw with out telegraphing and lands quicker than a side kick. And unlike a back kick, you don't have to turn your back to your opponent. I'm pretty much just a beginner in TKD so I'm not sure if what I say has any real universal truth, or if it's just what seems to work for me.
