Good news for South Carolinians:

http://www.nraila.org/legislation/s...cealed-carry-reform-bill.aspx?s=&st=10504&ps=

Today, Governor Nikki Haley (R) signed into law an important concealed carry reform, Senate Bill 308, during a public ceremony at the General Assembly.

This important pro-gun legislation makes several improvements to the South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), including removing the prohibition on CWP holders carrying a concealed handgun into an establishment licensed to serve alcohol, extending the duration or length of term of the CWP, improving training standards, improving the application and renewal process and expanding where a CWP holder may transport a firearm in his or her motor vehicle.

Under the new law, as long as you're not drinking, then you can carry into restaurants that serve alcohol. Previously, if a restaurant served alcohol, you couldn't carry into it, even if you had never had a drink in your entire life.

SC still has a long ways to go, especially when it comes to reciprocity (and non-residents), but at least this is a step in the right direction.

Yes, it doesn't make much sense to keep people from carrying a pistol if they don't drink. Technically, if they drink responsibly, they should be able to carry a pistol as well...we don't penalize drivers who drink under the limit either, and cars kill people when mixed with alcohol...If you drink over the limit and are carrying a gun...I think you should get a fine. That is how it should be dealt with...
