Setting the color of a colored uniform

Well, how do you do it? I've heard about soaking it in a bathtub with a half cup of salt (or so) overnight, then washing it cold a couple time. I just got a brand new blue judo gi and I don't want it to end up like my regular black (grey) gi.

Also, does anyone have any tricks for restoring color in a uniform without having to redye it? I remember doing something to an old uniform when I was younger that restored some color but I don't remember what it was.

Any help would be great! Thanks! :)

Is this gi died in indigo? If so, some people set the color by soaking it in white vinegar. Come to think of it, my wife does that to new bathing suits.

That was the other thing I've heard: salt and vinegar. Problem is I don't know how much vinegar to use.

Thanks! :)

a lot. soak it in your bathtub. run water over it, pour vinegar. when your bathroom reeks of vinegar, you've added enough.
