Two different pieces of equipment yielding two different results. The rigid arms act sort of like a makiwara, building power against resistance at the point of contact, while the spring version I think more closely resembles an actual person's limbs and can facilitate speed and flow from move to move.But the 'spring' feature would not provide the feedback of the normal wooden arms
I have a shoulder issue at the moment and Mrs Xue keeps yelling at me that hitting wood is not helping my shoulder.... I am considering changing to the spring arms

I'm not, I have an arthritic shoulder, and Mrs Xue is convinced I am exacerbating the issue by "hitting wood".Why are you hitting a wooden dummy so hard that it affects your shoulder?
