Flying fruit foils robbers

A Sydney convenience store owner managed to foil an armed robbery by throwing a can of fruit at the would-be thieves, police say.
The 47-year-old took aim at the pair who entered his Revesby shop at closing time on Friday evening carrying a knife and gun.
The flying fruit tin hit one of the masked offenders on the shoulder, prompting them to rethink their apparent planned robbery and instead flee in their car.
Police say the shop owner provided information that led to the arrest of a 17-year-old youth.
A search of the teenager's vehicle was alleged to have uncovered a replica pistol and dark gloves and clothing.
