Typical California pandering to the masses. Not to say he can't be considered an icon - he was charismatic, had exceptional physical abilities and his movies did help popularize MA in the West - but to dedicate a day to commemorate him? Maybe not too far-fetched - we do have a national Hot Dog Day coming up in just a few days. I think I'll celebrate that.

I was wondering why myself, but there is a day, week, month for just about everything else… so why not Bruce Lee too…. And if there can be a Bruce Lee day… then there should be a Chuck Norris day as well…

I live in California and while it has its problems, as does every state, it is a wonderful place to live. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea and that is fine. There are many other places they can live. I live in California because I don’t want to live elsewhere. Please don’t disparage my home. In exchange, I won’t disparage yours.

I've lived in San Diego, the Valley, Anaheim and Sacramento enjoying hiking, white water rafting, camping, sailing and fishing as well as visiting most of that state's main attractions. It's a great state in that respect.

I was not disparaging the Golden State, just the "Hollywood" propensity to equate fame with something more. This is not limited to just one state, but that is the place the post referenced and perhaps the most representative of that mentality. I laud your loyalty, but no need to take it so personally. I was more a comment on the human condition than the place.

Born and raised in San Francisco.
Never really know how really different it was from the rest of the US,
even from CA, SF had it's own vibe going on...back in the day .

Just got back from Trader Joe's with a pack of A & H all-natural gourmet kosher hot dogs. As a loyal American, I'm only too happy to support our nation's special day. Mustard, relish, onions and a pickle. NO KETCHUP! This is considered blasphemy in my hometown of Chicago.

BTW, Bruce Lee's favorite food was beef and shrimp in oyster sauce (I love that too), but what is not widely known (and a well-kept secret of his physical performance) is that hot dogs were his second favorite food, or so I believe.
