Martial Arts Alliance has been building this since 2017.
We carefully collected data across 4,000 direct members and over 500,000 across our broader communities to curate and refine 2,000+ texts and film, and to begin mapping out every martial arts system in the world. This has involved extensive vetting, translation, and cross-referencing of sources to contribute to serious collective research focused on martial traditions.
Originally ideated by co-founder Yaoguai and developed staff led within Martial Arts Alliance, the Tile Atlas Archive is now reaching a point where we are preparing to expand it publicly.

This is an open source, research driven mapping project. The goal is to structure martial systems into a transparent tile framework that will eventually connect to our 2,000+ text library, lineage maps, and a synced world map.
It is very much a work in progress. We will continue populating beyond the current build, adding additional styles, lineages, geographies, and parent and influence systems as the research deepens.
Before expanding further, we are seeking additional auditors and contributors.
If you are interested in martial arts and:
• Contributing primary or secondary sources
• Translating material
• Auditing classifications
• Refining lineage connections
• Supporting the effort through word of mouth
We would genuinely appreciate your involvement and feedback. This is an ongoing project for over 9 years, regardless when you read this past the date of post it is still active up and seeking more contributors.
This will also be published on GitHub for public access and contribution to the codebase. We want martial artists from all walks of life involved, which is why we are sharing this more broadly.
The long term goal is to build a structured, transparent, community driven atlas of global martial traditions that can serve practitioners, historians, and researchers alike.
