just wanted to say thanx to all the replied to my Newbie post and also answer a question.....I made a statement that I would like to use the Martial Art as a form of exercise rather than joining a gym.....I honestly do have an interest in the Martial Arts as an art form and not just as a form of excercise but in a sense practicing martial arts is kind of killing two birds with one stone......basically i want to actually learn something while practicing and at the same time loose some weight and get in some kind of shape....but once again thanx to all....looks like a lot of awesome people on this site can't wait to find something else to post about lol....

Welcome, and happy posting! :wavey:

The key to choosing an appropriate martial art has much more to do with finding a good instructor than choosing a particular art - no matter how good the art, how skilled the instructor, how enthusiastic the students, if you and the instructor don't mesh, nothing else is going to be relevant. There are some good references in the Beginner's Corner, especially Resources for Beginners and Choosing a school. Good luck with your search!

The people here are pretty friendly.

Ask away and someone usually will respond.
