Is weight training a must?

Weight training helps out if done for function. I think if one goes in trying to bulk up to look like Mr. Universe there could be a problem...I lift about 3 times a week. Basically just do olypmic type lifts for power and speed. I avoid most of the arm curls and high rep exercises in the gym, since I do the same thing in my Kenpo training.
