I finally got the black belt

Faith

Yellow Belt
For six years, I was part of a club where I trained and invested a significant part of my life. Over time, however, I began to feel held back — especially when it came to progressing toward my black belt. Despite my dedication, the support I needed from the head coaches simply wasn’t there.

Things came to a head when I discovered that my ex-boyfriend was in a relationship with the head coach. That changed everything. I no longer felt bound by the values of loyalty or tradition within the club or the organization it belonged to. I reached out to a master at a club in the neighboring town, explained my situation, and was met with a simple response: “Come and take the blackbelt-test here with us.”

Yesterday, I made the decision to leave the club that had been part of my life for so long and start a new chapter. I officially earned my black belt and joined a new club — one where I feel supported and respected.
It is a strange feeling, but don’t have any regrets. I’m at peace with the decision, and most of all, I’m happy to have moved forward.

I just need to tell my story somewhere, and this forum that place!

I've posted recently about my issues in a similar situation. I'm glad you found a better place for you to train.

I believe he practices TKD. Also he’s from Norway, so we’re getting things in translation.
That might explain it. Some time ago there was discussion of using English rather than Oriental terminology. Such confusion in translation can be avoided by using the traditional terms as the lingua franca, as French is used in fencing, Japanese for karate, Korean terms for TKD and English for aviation, regardless of countries involved.

Huge congratulations!! Yes I remember your posts from a few years ago, fantastic you made the move, life is far too short to stay somewhere you don't feel supported and where your path isn't nourished. Well done :D

First, congratulations. Just curious - the terms "club" and "coach" are not normally used in TMA. Exactly what style MA do you practice?
Im training WT Taekwondo. I have to mention that I used google translator from Norwegian - English when I wrote the post, so the translator might have done some raw translations without me noticing.

Huge congratulations! For the black belt or course, but more for the gigantic move forward in your personal life. Simply awesome. Keep up the great work.
