Home gym suggestions

I'm setting up a home gym, mostly geared towards kali and kickboxing. I'm getting a fitven standing heavybag and some puzzle style interlocking half inch mats. My mat space dimensions are approx 100 square feet, and the fitven bag has suction cups on the bottom to stick to the floor. I'm planning to fill the bag base with tube sand and have the bag on the floor with the mats around it vs ontop of the mats. The mats will be flush with walls on two sides, this should help prevent the mats from sliding.

Any suggestions on dealing with these type of mats? What can I put around the bag itself for stick work? All advice is welcome.

Thank you

I use the 3'x3'x1" mats. I find they are a bit softer if you fall, do takedowns, etc. and they stick together a little better. I have the wavemaster xxl which does pretty good except for push kicks. It weighs about 400 lbs so it doesn't move too much. Usually the mats are pretty easy to cut if your going that route.

I thought stick guys used half a car tyre.

A tire would be a pretty popular bit of equipment for FMA, yeah. We had a hanging tire, representing a circle in front of you (where the tire in the picture is front on relative to the eskrimador). Having the full circle was useful for practicing all angles.

Certainly, you can do that on a heavy bag. I don't like the bag's long-term prospects against rattan sticks, though. Particularly not the water-based ones. (I have one myself, and wouldn't hit it with my rattan sticks.)
