A young man recently graduated from my future alma mater, UMass Lowell. :D

He grew from a 17 year old immigrant who dropped out of high school because he couldn't speak english, to 29 year old college grad that is accepted to Yale University to study physics at a graduate level.

Its a great story about why one should never, ever, ever give up.

Some might have low expectations for a person, who at the age of 8, sold ice cream on the streets. Or they might have written him off when he dropped out of Nashua High, just two months after entering the school.

Marco Bonett-Matiz, of Hudson, never gave up on his success.

Bonett-Matiz, a 29-year-old Colombian immigrant, will graduate with degrees in physics and math from the University of Massachusetts Lowell on May 30.
