Ask all those single guys who can't get a date.

They then have to shell out some money to the parents of eligible girls for the honor to get married. (they don't date like we do anyhow...buy the pig or the cow or do without milk and sausages)

thing is a lot of em still have to save up to pay for dowries when daughters get married. So they'd rather a son cause many of em cant afford daughters.

If they got rid of that altogether, families will be able to have their daughters and cherish and love em as much as a son. Many of em would love to do that, but their society is evil.

Well, they can have all the daughters they want, the daughters just won't have a chance to ever get married past the oldest one, since the family would be deep in dept after paying for the dowry and the ceremony and festivities.

Not so much evil as 'steeped in traditions'

(but supply and demand...maybe then the gents will have to open their pocket books and pay for the brides...reversing the 'tradition')
