This thread is decicated in memory of Dr. Ronald McNair who was one of the Challenger Crew who all perished 20 years ago.

Of his many accomplishments, including graduating magna cum laude from undergraduate studies at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, he was an accomplished martial artist who held a 5th degree black belt.

For the example of excellence and sacrifice set by he and the other members of that fateful crew...

Rest in Peace.

.

Dr. McNair published various articles relating to the physics of the martial arts. I'll try and find them and post access to them.

It was 38 years ago today when Challenger exploded. Ronald McNair was one of the astronauts onboard and in addition to being an astronaut he also had a huge martial arts background. As a matter of fact he apparently was better known for his involvement in the martial arts than he was as an astronaut. When Challenger exploded I believe Blackbelt magazine did a tribute to him. RIP Ronald McNair.

Ron McNair used to compete on the tournament circuit in New England. He was a terrific fighter. He’d take care not to hurt you when he was kicking your butt.

When he did Kata everyone stopped what they were doing and watched. He was that good. The man was a class act. We all still miss him.
