Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost
immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional
pain relievers.

Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.

Before you head to he drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with
mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong
Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

1 Tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Cure urinary tract infections with alka-seltzer. Just dissolve two
tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms.
Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost
instantly-even though the product was never been advertised for this
use.

Eliminate puffiness under your eyes.....All you need is a dab of
preparation H, carefully rubbed into the skin, avoiding the eyes. The
hemorrhoid ointment acts as a vasoconstrictor, relieving the swelling
instantly.

honey and place a band-aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the
skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the
insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground

daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites,
and accelerates healing.

Oh, it's been in the family a few years, constantly being updated...

LOL, no. Eh, I got it in an email a long time ago and I have it in a text file on my comp. I've used alot of those and they do work. The reason why I posted it was cause I just got a blister between my index finger and thumb web. Hurts like the dickens. So, I couldn't remember what to use. Listerine. So, then I decided to post it here.

Now, I tried the glue thing, but I couldn't get it to work. Of course I don't think it was dried enough. LOL. And maybe I didn't get enough glue on it.

Chemically and physiologically some of those should work well, but some of the others are based on chemistry, but a little skewed in their ability.

IE.
The carbonate in Colgate will soothe a burn, but the diatoms in it will be abrasive enough to irritate it just as much if not more.

Honey on a wound will kill aerobic bacteria by cutting off the air supply, but most honey isn't very sterile, so you are inviting other infections.

The dog odor one is kind of funny, if you rub a wet dog with a dryer sheet, you get a wet dog that smells like he's wearing a freshly clean sweater. A nice mix of soggy mutt and a spring day. The odor doesn't go away it just mixes in with the dryer sheet.

I like the others though, especially the Listerine disinfectant and the cat's ears idea.

Yeah, well, I haven't gotten around to trying those three. I do agree that you shouldn't use dryer sheets. They are big enough and don't give off enough scent. I use carpet fresh on my dogs when they smell bad and I don't have enough time to wash them. Or my mom uses perfume on them sometimes. LOL.

I haven't tried the colgate thing yet, but let me tell you: The listerine one works very well. I just had a popped blister Wednesday and Sunday and I used it on both of them. It burns for about a minute, but the one from wednesday is healing super fast and it doesn't hurt. The one from yesterday is doing good too. Doesn't hurt nearly as much.

And the thing with the honey...I wouldn't use it anyways. I'd like to, but I hate sticky like that. I use other stuff. Like cream, and one thing that's better than honey on a burn or cut that is not as sticky is Caster Oil. I don't ever plan on swallowing it, but it works great on cuts, scrapes, burns, and all.

Interesting. I've actually used one of those, though not in the prescribed manner.

Was working on my car and had a nut rusted to a bolt on the end of one of my shocks and couldn't get the sucker loose. So, I pulled off the whole shock, and put the end in a glass of coke overnight. Came back in the morning and it was not only loose, but CLEAN!! All the rust was gone. :p

I wonder if its the gatoraid or a simple dehydration headache. I think I would stick with tried and true pain killers for a migrane though.
As to the using 409 I think thats what my Nonnie has done a couple times.

What ever you do though DON'T ingest. :barf: That would be horrible.

Yes, well the gatoraid thing: I don't really like aspirin because its a drug. I try to avoid drugs. I've had to take them all my life due to asthma(Thank goodness I've almost outgrown it.) So, I usually let stuff wear off, which it does. Aspirin is a last resort.

Honey does not accommodate bacteria: This bactericide (bacteria-killing) property of honey is named "the inhibition effect".

The safety concern about honey arose because honey often contains spores that, under the right circumstances, can cause a rare deadly disease discovered in 1976, called infant botulism. Infant botulism is spread by these spores, not by pre-formed botulism toxin.

Botulism spores are found throughout nature, in soil, in dust, and on the unwashed surfaces of unpeeled fruits and vegetables. The spores are present in about 10 percent of the samples of honey tested. These spores are tough to kill. They are quite heat-resistant; some can survive boiling for several hours. Honey is naturally resistant to many bacteria. Sometimes, honey is pasteurized ? usually it is not. Pasteurizing does not reliably destroy botulism spores. Some honey is filtered; some is not. Filtering does not reliably remove botulism spores. There are advantages and disadvantages to pasteurizing and filtering. I don?t feel strongly either way, but this is one food I prefer un-pasteurized. No honey, though, is best for infants.

The CDC recommends that children younger than 1 year of age should not be given honey unless the product has been certified free of spores.

I may not remember this accurately, but when I was little I had a splinter embedded deep into my leg and I couldn't get it out and it hurt. So my dad took bacon fat (took it right off of the bacon in the refridgerator I believe), put it on my leg and taped it onto my leg before I went to bed. I don't know how sanitary it is, but the next morning the splinter was gone.
