A CROWDED SWAP MEET BEST DESCRIBES THIS EVENT.
There were too many competitors for a one day event. The director and his staff had a difficult time controlling the crowd.they started late, had about 6 certified referees for ten rings, the rest were teenage black belts with little or no experience. My last 11 year old fought @530pm. Got robbed. He scored at the end, of a 40 sec match, with a jump back which downed his opp and did not score. They gave a point to the other kid. He had not even kicked or punched!
I will not be returning.

There were roughly 1050 competitors. Crowd control was off and on...mostly off. Props to the director, ben m., for keeping his cool in a super stressful environment. Manny gonzalez was one of the official refs there. He spent the day as center ref cause the three refs in his ring were inept.

A suggestion: Send a polite letter to the tournament directors about the problems. Don't complain about your student -- but describe and relate the problems. Allow them the opportunity to address them, or at least let them know the problems. Sometimes in the midst of the event, it's hard to see what's going on as you're trying to run everything, y'know?
