The Celtic Exchange in Edinburgh saw groups from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen sparring with a variety of weapons, including longsword, rapier, broadsword ans singlestick....

A longsword doesn't usually bend this much!!!

Hi Brian...

Most folk here in the UK are using medieval+ illustrated manuscripts to revive arts like German/Italian Longsword, Italian/Spanish rapier & dagger and British backsword/broadsword/singlestick. (There are some fencing schools who claim to have retained a lineage but not here in the UK as far as I'm aware). http://www.thearma.org/manuals.htm

I have managed to trace several veteran fencing coaches who used to train with singlestick, traditional Highland wrestlers, an old traditional dance that involves the use of a Dirk dagger and also trained with an Irishman who was taught by his father to weild the Irish blackthorn.
