OK I am booking the flight tomorrow. Does anybody know if Hatsumi Sensei is away during Sept 20-27? Just want to know before I book for the 3 of us.

Well thanks for your answer. My ticket is on a no obligation reserve. I have 3 people that want to go. It was a seat sale. I found the people that wanted to go and now want to make sure.

Thanks for your concern though.

Dave,
You should be ok. But things do change at the last minute. Hatsumi really does not go anywhere. The scheduale for September's classes will probably be known in a few months.

You might want to check out Ohashi san's site (sorry can't think of URL off the top of my head) this may or may not confirm your question, as it is still very early in the year, so nothing I would suspect would be set in stone , not that it ever is. You could also ask at Kutaki if you have not already posted there.

Best of luck and joy in your training over there. Please keep us informed (if possible) on events and give us a recap when you return

Thank you for the reply Don. Honestly, I have til 16th to confirm my booking. I got a killer rate.
It is always a crap shoot as things can change like you say. But even if that happens there will be a litany of other places to train.

So will I finally get a chance to meet with you? LOL.
I am working to get the other Shihans schedules as well. I have been getting lots of help with that from Josh Krill.

I have sent an email to Ohashi San to just verify some things. For safety sake.

Regardless we're coming. Even if it is just for a week.

Dave,

Congratulations on your trip! September should be a good time
to be in Japan. I will be in Japan end of June beginning of July
and I expect it to be bloody hot! So it is good that I like the
heat. Definately make it to Sunday training because Soke &
Nagato both teach and that is truly a great experience. Saturday
I believe has two other Shihan's teaching at the Hombu. I want
to say Senno and Noguchi but I am not one hundred percent sure.
George Ohashi can fill you in on all of the details and his website
is a huge help for all of us in the Bujinkan. Have fun and train
as much as possible. ( At least twice a day) Can you pm me with the killer plane ticket rate that you were able to get. If it is that good I might buy my tickets right now as well.

You are right about Seno, but Noguchi does not teach on Saturday. Oguri does.

Well we only have a week to work with with including all the great lag that comes with airtravel. I am just looking to see if someone can assist me in making a little itinerary so that I can optimize my time.
Any Shihan is great. Shiraishi is one that I would like to see for sure though

Shiraishi Sensei is great and last time I was in Japan I really
enjoyed his classes. Do not miss out on Nagato, Seno, Oguri,
Noguchi, etc. They are all great and very happy to help you.
Training opportunities abound most days you can hit at least
one possibly two training opportunities. However one week with
jet lag is very little time. Good luck, I am sure that you will have
a great time training with Soke and the Shihan.

Yes very little time indeed, likely why the tickets were so cheap. However even 5 dedicated days with training on each will be fine.

I guess now is to find out where and when the training is.
We don't arrive til Thursday aft, which I am sure we will likely be in no condition to train but then again who knows.

Any clues on how to avoid really serious lag? From those who have travelled it. I went to Australia years ago and pretty much fell asleep in my food when I got there.

But if we can do it on the Thursday then we can make it 6 days.

When is Shiraishi Shihans class at his dojo in Kashiwa? is there a subway stop nearby?
I am having a pretty difficult time trying to get specifics on what Shihans are located where and or what nights they teach at the Honbu and what times that is as well.

Is there anyone in Japan that can fill me in on some of the schedules.
I am aware that Nagouchi and Nagato teach about the same time, which is bad for me as I want to attend both. Also for Senno and Oguri.
Also of course Hatsumi.

Don Roley mentioned to me Hatsumi sensei at the Ayase on Tues which I will make sure to go, as we leave the next day.

So any help is great, even if you have to PM me.

I never really have much trouble coming to Japan. I tend to go to sleep early and get up early, but that is about it. Going back over the date line fouls me up real bad.

Isn't there a list of when the shihan train and where somewhere? I know Hatsumi does not want things like fees laid out on the internet, but surely someone has talked about when all the various teachers have class.

I do understand the privacy thing on the net. I do.
I am just wondering how I plan it then. If there is no info on how to contact, I have just a short time so it's not like I can show up and just get used to it, the wheres and whens. However I don't disagree

I guess what I should be asking is can someone PM me on the issue of the schedules, what ever they know or can tell me.

Thanks, and thank you Don for your continued help.
