My wife and I entered 4 of our images in competition again this year at the 2011 Erie County NY fair.
I placed with 2 3rd place Honorable Mentions.
She took both 1st place ribbons.

Categories were portrait and landscape, in the Professional heading.

Is her color palette usually like this?

Pretty much. She goes for more 'pop' where I aim a little cooler.

The bridge in autum colors, it's almost too good to be true 'HEY IT'S A FRIGGIN POST CARD'

yeah, I know, some photographer was dancing the jig when he got that shot...back when people actually used post cards!

Did she have to stand knee deep in the water for that shot?

Nope. 2 reasons.
1 Water access is prohibited.
2 If you tried to stand in the water, you'd be off your feet in a second due to the force.

Niagara Falls was about 30-40 feet to her left.

but sometimes to get 'that angle' you gotta go out of your way.

(No wonder they don't allow people in...heck, they don't let you go over in a barrel...nekked would not turn out well)
