A good article from the BBC which reminded me that it is really only in my life-time that we have seen much improvement in race relations (tho' sadly it seems things are slipping backwards again). I think, then as now, the problems in the sixties were about the rate of immigration rather than the fact of it happening at all but it is depressing to hear of the experiences of people coming from Commonwealth countries to such a poor reception:
