Lst night when workin out in the dojan the sambonim asked me to do taeguk 5, afther the class we discused about the taeguks and informed now there are forms competition and these competitios are very tough, this llow me to ask the samboknim about self defense (my passion).
Samboknim told me that his dojan encourages a lot self defense, cause in the 90's almot all the TKD dojans training program was towards competirion, but in the last years WTF ralice TKD studentes don't do well the taeguks and that the martial ast spirit is going down so there is a new aproach in TKD and this is to focus in forms (taeguks) as much as competition and teaching self defense too again.
The main (central headquarters) dojan of Hwarang Tae Kwon Do in Mexico City as 200 studentes where only 3 or 4 studentes are high level competitors, the rest are people who enrolls TKD for self defense/martial arts.
