That doesn't surprise me at all. We have the same thing here, both private and state health insurance. of course, because the state insurance if so screwed up' a lot of doctor's aren't accepting it anymore because they can't get paid.

It is against the law for anyone to be denied energency medical treatment, whether they have insurance or not. Of course, again, it shouldn't surprise anyone that in Los Angeles County, hospital emergency wards are shutting down because they,re not getting paid and are going bankrupt.

I'm not saying there isn't a need for "social services." But I think those needs are better handled by private groups, rather than an inefficient government beuracracy.

The medical standards here are very high. When people pay medical insurance what they are paying is not better health care it's a private room and services. They will mostly get exactly the same doctors and treatment as the non private insurance customers. No medical treatment in Britain is 'free' as such we pay National Insurance contributions from our salaries.
