Seriously, it was great to see some hip throws in TKD. I also liked the use of the joint locks to expose targets... fun stuff.

My Kwan Jang Nim's lineage comes from the Tae Kwon Do branch of the Moo Duk Kwan. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1968, and has maintained the same curriculum (old Korean stylized Japanese/Okinawan forms). As such, throws and locks are part of the curriculum as well. The general free sparring is still very much head kick oriented
