Scary for someone who could be sworn in to PROTECT the constitution

1st off, as a U.S. Senator, he is sworn to protect the Constitution.

Secondly, in context, he's talking about the inherent racism of this country as a deep flaw that continues today-we continue to see the legacy of slavery, and declaring a person as counting as only "3/5 of a person," and denying that person equality-even if they were free men-to this day.

You are correct in the language of the constitution. I'm not sure I agree that racism is inherent, I am sure some individuals are racist, and hope that less and less are racist with the passage of time...

Article 1, Section 2 is where the language is. The language will continue to be there, and it was over-ridden by 14th amendment. Good or bad, admendments represent how the constitution is "changed." Our history is our history...

The problem is that he thinks the Constitution should spell out all that a government should do rather than understanding that it limitits what the government can do.

Given that the last 8 years consisted of dismantling the constitution, (Courts? Congress LOL! VP has unfettered power in all three branches! Yeaah!) This doesn't rate.

I find it strange that you're voting against Obama for nonexistent reasons.

I am voting against him because he is a socialist and the most Liberal Senator there is. He will hurt businesses (Like mine) w3ith his redistribution of the wealth ideas.
Tell me one actual thing he has accomplished in the Senate, that makes hm qualified to be President. Has he ever held any executive position? I also personally believe that if you have never served in the military that you are not qualified to be President

1) Obama is not a socialist.
2) You'll likely get a tax break.
3) John Kerry was "the most liberal senator" when he was running against Bush. It's a cheesy, inherited talking point.
4) Obama has a functioning brain. He's taught constitutional law. That tends to speak well for what he'll bring to the presidency.

The lower 40% of americans who pay no income tax should not get a tax credit (Welfare)for being the loser in life. we do not reward people in school for D's and E's why should we in life.
that the top-earning 25% of taxpayers (AGI over $62,068) earned 67.5% of the nation's income, but they paid more than four out of every five dollars collected by the federal income tax (86%). The top 1% of taxpayers (AGI over $364,657) earned approximately 21.2% of the nation's income (as defined by AGI), yet paid 39.4% of all federal income taxes. That means the top 1% of tax returns paid about the same amount of federal individual income taxes as the bottom 95% of tax returns.

just on of MANY sources.
And the obamamessiah wants the people already paying most of the tax revenue to pay more. I know someone who make $450K per year in CA and over half goes to the government(Fed + State) that is insane already. And he said there is no virtue in being selfish. He is WRONG being selfish is the conerstone of Capitalism. The harder and smarter you work the more $$ you make.

David you defeat all your talking points by calling Senator Obama the obamamessiah. This type of rhetoric does nothing to create a possible convert for Senator McCain.

Treat them respectfully (the candidates) and make your points and maybe just maybe you will be able to convince someone that McCain will make a better President. Yes, that goes for both sides as well.

I own several small businesses and I expect no help or relief from either Presidential Candidate. However, I will make adjustments and all of my businesses will flourish!

Brian I really have a problem with this statement, what about the third side you know those really wanting Mickey Mouse to run this country. Look what he did for the Magic Kingdom.

You know Terry that is really funny. I have little doubt that given a chance Mickey or another third party candidate could do a great job!
