Judo typically works with the gi a lot, as of course do at least some folks in BJJ (maybe all who train with gi). Training no-gi in any grappling that uses the gi changes the dynamics in lots of interesting ways that are fun and enlightening.

When you say "enlightening," in that sentence, I hope you are euphemistically intending the meaning "sucks."

Way different, the no-gi thing, it is impressive, and a bit scary, to suddenly find out that you're linked to the clothing to do 75% or more of "your stuff."

Fun to figure it out as Wang posted at the top of the thread. All the hooks translate, but it's interesting how different the entries are dynamically when you try to move into and out of them.

Yeah, even for the things you don't grab the fabric, the friction of the fabric is a help.

On inside and outside of your elbow joint, there are 2 small bone that stick out. If you put one thumb on one side and another 4 fingers on the other side, you can pull your opponent's arm when he doesn't have jacket on. You can dig 4 fingers on the inside of your opponent's upper arm while your thumb dig into the outside of his upper arm. But this will require a strong grip.

While no gi is great, dont underestimate the value of learning how to control your opponent through gripping clothes. Gripping the pants while on bottom saved my life.

Gi training is just as valuable as no-Gi training, IMO. It's very helpful to have done significant Gi training if you get jumped on (your back is taken when you go to the ground) by a dude wearing jeans... which you can grip, and use against him.

No-Gi is just as helpful if a situation arises where a d-bag with no shirt decides to bum rush and you don't feel like, can't quite get a grip on (pun intended) trading blows with the guy if you can't just evade that entirely. Of course, this assumes that you don't want to or don't have a chance to just push his face in a little.
