Before watching the video, imagine for a moment. You're a lighthouse keeper. The towering edifice is your home. Usually throughout the year it's quiet and you have the sounds of the surf far below you (or quite near if your living quarters are at the base as most are). But there is a season. A season of storms. You lay there at night (these were filmed obviously during daylight hours but imagine all of that throughout the night)... wondering, waiting... will it hold up?

THAT is how opening a window becomes an extreme sport.

lets hope those people have plenty of milk becasue its not like they can pop out to the corner shop for a pint without waterproof undies and guts of steel.

Holy frak!

You can only hope that a lot of the power was expended by the launch upwards from the unlying bedrock.

I suppose it must be because I can't see a man-made structure that wasn't a solid piece of stone standing up that for long if it was at full strength.

Cool video clip. Fortunately or unfortunately for light house keepers most of their jobs have been removed do to technology. In other words most lighthouse are now unmaned.
