Does the sweeping the front leg at the heel also include foot hooks, where you hook the front leg of the opponent and pull the foot? Wow no contact to the face? If they are that concerned, then a full head gear with a clear face protector may be the better option?

Hooking the foot is allowed.

Face contact is allowed for adults but not for kids.

And that's probably more for liability (and parental concern) reasons, than actual safety. I do like that they still allow some head contact. I've run into some adults who weren't allowed head contact, at all, in their schools.

Correct.

Accidental Face contact still happens a lot so it still teaches the lesson to protect your face.
The downside of training Jow Ga vs Jow Ga is that I've become really good with defending against circular stuff but will eat a few punches before I begin protecting my face. From what I could tell in the video, it didn't look like they were hitting hard. Is that a norm for power or does it get crazy at times? Are kicks to the head allowed?

Rules allow light contact to the head and full contact to the body.

The kids get along pretty well and are friends so most of them control their power mainly. But at times it gets heated.

Head kicks are allowed but you have to control it only making light contact.
