Music Lyrics are Dumbed down!

Not many, I don’t follow music much. And I’d rather watch a band perform on TV than see them live. (worked too many concerts)

But I know Cold Play and the Stones released albums in the last five years.
So did Depeche Mode and Ministry. I like music about as much as I like movies. Which is quite a bit. :)

Well, once you bring movies into the equation that’s different. And the world is a far better place.

I’ve watched this video at least once a week for five years. I suppose I may tire of it at some point….nah.

And The Bird is most definitely the Word.
Ain’t no two ways about that.

I'm not even going to ask
Bwahahahaha!

Some of these guys are guilty too.

Most people who didn't listen to the lyrics of Wow by Kate Bush thought it was a love song. When I listen to them, it sounds like she's ridiculing someone for a failed movie role audition. First, that's an odd thing to make a song about. Second, especially making it a "slow jam."
Reminds me of the people merrily vibing to Pumped up kicks.

Or suddenly finding out the guy who sung Born in the USA is a bit left wing.

Bruce Springsteen

Born in the U.S.A.

Stream / Watch

Label

Columbia Records

Release Date

4 June 1984

Lyrics

Born down in a dead man’s town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that’s been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says “Son if it was up to me”
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said “Son, don’t you understand”

I had a brother at Khe Sanh fighting off the Viet Cong
They’re still there, he’s all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I’m ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain’t got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I’m a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I’m a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.
