Is one better than the other,
like "a fine wine," or is there no difference? 🤔

"Every year on my birthday, I post a video that shows something about my long fitness journey going into older age. Since I recently posted a video of me doing Cha Chuan in 2015, nine years ago at age 69, I though it would be perfect to show me doing the same form today on my birthday at age 78.

While gathering material for editing, I happened upon a video showing me performing Cha Chuan way back in 2008 at age 62, so I added it to the video.

This shows a 16 year difference in my age.Since this form requires flexibility, agility and endurance it would be a good test."

Very nice! I hope I can move that well in 18 years when I get to that age.

Some thoughts.

The earlier practice at 62 while some might say was done in a more technically, difficult way .
Felt the older practice at 78 was much better , showing inner spirit and power.

There are things I can't do now, I could do as younger man.
There are things I can do now, late 60's, that I could not do as a younger man.

Looking extremely good at 78.maybe a little smoother transitions than at 62 even. Great work!

Very Very inspiring. A much greater achievement than being really good when your young then stopping completely.

I think I agree with your evaluation of the two sets.

BTW, I take it from your comment that this is not you and your original comment was a quote from the person in the video? I think some of us initially interpreted it as you saying that was your own video.

1. Yes it was.
2. No, its not me in the video.

Thanks for letting me know....👍

Came across it accidentally.

Randall Fung, the gentlemen, in the video..

What caught my eye was his use of video, to document changes in his practice.
Something I did, and do.

Some may not know, the medium's that one store’s their work on have expiration dates.

VHS tapes : 10 to 30 years.
DAT (Digital Audio Tape) : 10 to 20 years.
Flash drive : 10 to 20 years

During my time, unfortunately, some of the mediums used to store my work on corrupted due to time. Something that one might not think about...But find out later....

My work a little different now
Very different from my younger days

This was awesome! It kinda reminded me of the video game sifu, in the game when you age you hit with more power but your health bar is lower than when you started. I hope I can move like this guy when I'm older. I've had knee surgeries so I'm a bit worried about my martial future in say 20 to 30 years from now. It would suck to master my current system but not be able to do it anymore.

Back about 18 or 19 years ago, I had trained Long Fist, in the USA and was still practicing it, But in China, while in Beijing walking around Tian Tan park (temple of Heaven) I came across to old guys, looked to me that one was in his 70s or 80s and the other was older. The younger of the 2 did the same form I was training, and it was BY FAR, better than what I was doing. When he finished, he went to the older guy, who said something to him, quietly, I could not hear, and then the younger of the 2 did the form again...and I don't know how, but he did it better...
