Ok, I understand the concept, and what he was doing to create his picture, but I have some serious issues with him messing with people’s heads the way he did.

So he found his followers in Arizona. Why Arizona?

Is it because the American southwest (AZ and NM in particular) appear to have a disproportionately high number of centers (secular and non-secular alike) for issues such as substance abuse?

I don't know if that is so...but I'd have a particularly hard time about the concept if he was intentionally targeting people that were more vulnerable or more at risk.
