Has anyone done a Kick-A-Thon for a charity? How did you go about it. Did you contact the charity first, or just raise the money and send a donation?

We do them all the time for events, it has always worked better getting in contact with the charity and get them to give you a letter stating you are doing this for them and how grateful they are to you and your students it add credibilty to what you are doing. Also people tend to donate more when they know it is for real. We either let them do a flat pledge or a per kick pledge.

Plus a lot of times charities also have standard donation forms that you can give out to your students to use to solicit donations.

We contact the organization and they give us materials to help us run it and they help advertise it.
