Jasper officer Indiana ‘Trooper of the Year’

Indiana State Police trooper Heath Carkuff from the Jasper post was named Indiana’s “Trooper of the Year” during an annual awards ceremony Friday in Indianapolis.
Carkuff joined the state police in July 2007, and while working nights last year in Perry and Crawford counties, he issued 1,430 traffic citations and 1,380 warnings.
He made 42 operating-while-intoxicated arrests (10 of them felony counts for second offenses) and 190 criminal arrests and worked 29 crashes and 55 cases.
Meanwhile, three troopers from the Evansville post were among the more than 60 state police employees honored for outstanding service in 2008.

Not to take anything away, but none of these guys will ever equal the legendary Buster Snider.

Possibly true, but I felt we needed some more "Good Cop" stories posted. :)

Buster got called out of his house one night by some drunk teenagers who had a grudge against him for writing so many tickets to 'cruisers' up and down Colfax avenue. He came out and they tried to fight him. He left them handcuffed to a tree in front of his house and went back to bed. That's a good cop.
