I was thinking of two catagories.

First one that demonstraights good martial arts philosophy.

Second one that demonstraights good technical skills.

I nominate Unleashed for Technique for the scene in the bathroom where they fight totally in trapping range. Good trapping range technique by both of them .

So sound off :) lets hear em.

Technique a good one would be Kiss of the Dragon

Well some might think this is funny as in wierd:

SinCity and the character Marv. When he enters the bar where he sees Jesica Alba on stage. He just pokes the guy in the throat, and bashes him. It is simple. It is what I have seen.

It does not meet the Philosophical views of peace and higher enlightenment, (* Good thing I study FMA's ;) *), and it does not meet the techniques as in something that most would consider a good show of good technqiues.

But hey we are talking about the movies. :D

This is going to sound really stupid, but a movie I suggest to all of my students that best explains the concept of training so you have to self confidence to not get into fights is Joe Somebody. There is nothing in it to really watch as far as technique is concerned but the message is good.

Philosophy- can't beat Crouching Tiger, but you can't overlook Karate Kid.

Technique- Iron Monkey, maybe Drunken Master.

We TKD folks really love this movie for all of those reasons. But I think it's good for all MA-ists. I'm not ashamed to say that I actually teared up a bit when I first saw it.

Best of the Best I. I am a huge, huge fan of the movie. Above the Law for Technique, maybe Bloodsport. Watching Seagal's Aikido in Above the Law was just cool.

There's a number of great movies out there. Tony Jaa in Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior blew me away with his ability. Good message too.

Have to go with Ong Bak! The action was great, as the idea of fighting for a worthy cause.

I also liked Best of the Best, and of course Game of Death and Enter the Dragon. As I worked as a teenage boxboy at the neighborhood market, Jim Kelly (Enter the Dragon) once helped me retrieve a shopping cart that rolled astray.

I'd like to add for philosophy and yes you may all mock me terribly but,

The Last Dragon with Bruce Leroy and Sho'Nuff.

Yes it's funny yes it mocks just about everything but the story is good. He is a simple guy trying to acheive his simple dreams.

Infinite don't worry about being mocked I will take that up...
I know I will be labeled for this but for the philosophy I have to go with...The Karate Kid. The first one. Mr Miagi (sp?) has some very good points. And yes I secretly watch the movie on occation.

Now as far as technique...that is a hard one to narrow down but I saw a movie when I was a kid where a guy was doing Kung Fu to do laundry. What a great scene!! I can't remember the name of the movie but that scene has stuck with me 20+ years.

Let the mocking begin....

PS. The last dragon was cool. Along with "The adventures of Remo Williams" (if memory serves me right)
