FMA's And Strong Willed People!

One thing I have noticed through the years is that the Filipino Martial Arts and Silat for that matter tend to draw in very strong, opinionated people. Personally this is a good thing in that I enjoy hanging out with strong, outspoken people who tell it like it is. However when looking at some other systems that seem to thrive a bit more you find a strong core group of people who are more shall we say followers rather than leaders and not as strong willed. This has been some thing that I have observed and I find it may be a reason why at times there is quite a bit of infighting shall we say amongst this FMA/Silat practitioner and another practitioner. Now I will say that the FMA's particularly here in America are growing but cmparatively to other systems it is a slow growth rate. Any ideas on why this is so?
