Then, only krav maga is karate.
Krav maga is real karate + real aikido + real etc.
Real Karate is real Karate.
In a real fight, of course, elegant movements are difficult to be performed.
So why would you bother with them when they are not necessary?
It is only an exercise; it is fantasy.
Not a fantasy but the simplest (kihon) explanation.
In a real life situation, some attackers often intend to immobilize you, while you are attacked by other persons.

Those positions are more useful in kobudo.
We are talking about Karate.
Basic techniques are a good exercise to develop strength, balance, coordination, etc.
Only a small part of their reason for being. Basic techniques are the bread and butter of any system. It is knowing how to use those basic techniques that counts.
