I wish to share some articles on Silat Seni Gayong, one of the most (and probably most) widely praticed silat styles in Malaysia and Singapore.

Silat Seni Gayong article in Inside Kung-Fu, December 2004: http://sendiharimau.tripod.com/IKF.html
Silat Seni Gayong featured in the Journal of Asian Martial Arts, Vol. 2 No. 4, 1993: http://sendiharimau.tripod.com/JAMA.html
Silat Seni Gayong featured in Martial Arts Legends, September 1997: http://sendiharimau.tripod.com/MAL.html
The Malay Art Of Self-defense: Silat Seni Gayong, written by Sheikh Shamsuddin SM Salim, the gurulatih (sr. instructor) currently based in Camden, NJ. Available from Amazon.com and Kinokuniya bookstores: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1556435622/qid%3D1109022329/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/102-7484021-1270539; http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/guest/cgi-bin/bookseaohb.cgi?ISBN=1556435622&AREA=05

I want to point out the confusion caused by so many silat perguruans (schools) using "Gayong" for their organisation. Silat Seni Gayong was founded by the late Mahaguru Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman. However, only the following perguruans are truly practising and teaching the original Silat Seni Gayong as expanded by the late Mahaguru Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman:
- Silat Seni Gayong (i.e Gayong Malaysia and its Silat Seni Gayong branches abroad)
- Pusaka Gayong
- Gayong Pasak
- Gayong Warisan Serantau

Out of these four, the fourth perguruan in the list was recently opened and without the consent of the late Dato Mahaguru's supreme trustees. Gayong Warisan Serantau is believed to be opened by some gurus from Silat Seni Gayong who were disappointed of not being elected for Silat Seni Gayong positions of their dream.

I am telling this with no offence towards those from Gayong Warisan Serantau and the bunch of other silat perguruans that use the name "Gayong". Do correct me if you feel that I am wrong. Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Thanks.
