Anger management and the martial arts

One of the unexpected benefits I've gained from studying and practicing the martial arts is that it has helped enormously with my mental health and addiction issues. Watching that video Gyakuto posted about the book of the five rings- which I am getting- really helped me keep my temper during a family argument yesterday. I used to drink when I was angry in an attempt to numb the rage. These days, I go 3 rounds on the bag as soon as the conflict situation is over and it helps far more and keep me fit. Does anybody else have similar experiences? I'm keen to learn a lot more of these strategies and go deeper into the theory. Does anybody have any recommendations for stuff I should read? Thanks muchly.

In regards to anger management, having a teacher that includes punching and kicking pads in the lessons and also encourages his/her students to hit sandbags or the like during his/her free time helps. If the teacher only teaches his/her students to do forms, some anger can be released after sweating but hitting pads are more effective to release anger. So is sparring. Hope what I said is relevant to the topic.
