Don't bite the hand that feeds you, but if you do, don't forget the mustard!

(add whatever nuggets of wisdom you can :) serious, silly, whatever!)

"Without Knowledge, Skill cannot be focused. Without Skill, Strength cannot be brought to bear and without Strength, Knowledge may not be applied." - Alexander the Great's Chief Physician

The glass is neither half-full nor half-empty: it's twice as big as it needs to be.

The greater part of all mischief in the world arises from the fact that men do not sufficiently understand their own aims.
---Wolfgang von Goethe

Honesty is the best policy. But insanity is a better defense.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence you tried.

Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't.

Forgive your enemies, but remember their names.

Strange as it may seem, no amount of learning can cure stupidity, and formal education positively fortifies it. - Stephen Vizinczey

You can't leave footprints in the sands of time if you're sitting on your ***. And who wants to leave assprints in the sands of time?

"You may fool all of the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." Abraham Lincoln

"Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of the way." George Patton

A favourite of mine is a pseudo 'inspirational poster' quote:

Eagles may soar but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines

.

But a core tenet that I always try to remember and sometimes forget is one I posted very recently here at MT with regard to the brevity of life and the importance of retaining a sense of perspective:

"Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.".

I have to say that if you ever need to delve into either inspiration, wisdom or plain truth about the human condition, you wont go far wrong with Shakespeare.
