Is anyone else weirded out by the Toyota Camry Hybrid ad or is it just me?

It starts as an innocuous family car ad. A nice white guy in the drivers seat and his nice white boy safely strapped in to his seat in the back.

"Dad, why do we have a hybrid?" the son asks.

"It's for your future," Dad answers and explains why more efficient engines are a good idea.

That's all good.

Then dad turns on the navi system, which prompts it's passengers to look at it by saying "Mira aquí"

"Dad, why is the car speaking Spanish?" the son asks.

"It's for your future," Dad answers.

I'm reading this as...in the future we will all be speaking Spanish.

Empiece a estudiar, ahora mismo.

Strange - here it aired as "Dad, why did you learn to speak English?" and he replies, "For your future."

Can you say "Chicken Legs?" Sure! I knew you could!

I hate to think what would be falling out of Mick's costume. The sad thing is that he's the best looking of the bunch - and he's always been ugly!

Probably either:

1. Must take the thinking pill ... must take the ...

-or-

2. At least I've got hair, aye?

It aired here as the same. There is this new technology that allows you to send out tons of ads and at like a router at a county line it'll pick the one that advertisers think will work in the area. Either that is eing used or the local stations have a different ad to air based upon the demographic....

We (* friends and I *) really liked that one. Yet I really liked the Bud one with the Colt trying to pull the wagon. Then his parents helping him.

Not a Bud Drinker, but it was a really good commercial.

As to creepy, I thought the Cadillac commercials were lacking.

I thought the hybrid commericals by Honda/Toyota/Ford were all creepy as in if you did not go out and buy one then you were some how less of a human being.

(* See my other rants about Electric cars and Hybrids for costs and impact to the ecology. *)

In particular the recent ads about "Green" from car companies that have stepped up their production of poor fuel economy vehicles, yet seem to have this halo effect about them.

That one was pretty cool :)

I thought the one with the lamb streaker was pretty awesome :) That was probably my favorite... other than those, I see better commercials watching normal TV.
