Recently we have been doing a lot of exercises which include kicking a partner with a Hogu on. When I do a left roundhouse for example or lets say a triple kick (R, L, R) my left ankle starts to hurt. I kick with the right part of my foot but it still hurts. The pain is on the right side of the left ankle just in front where the foot connects to the leg (sorry I don't know the names of the bones) Am I kicking to hard or am I kicking the wrong way or what else could it be???

It's hard to know based on what you wrote but to repeat the general advice
(a) See a doctor/physio and ensure there isn't a serious injury.
(b) If no injuries then it is likely a lack of strength

Those types of kicks can put alot of stress on your ankle joints - that's why you strengthen the muscles down there to help support the torque/wegiht etc. Try some calf raises and do the break the technique down and do slowly to make sure you're not screwing it up somewhere.

I'd stress to see a physio. Most GP's will take a guess at what's going on and they aren't specialists, physios can do tests and manipulate the joint, strength test your foot and suggest excercises to help, nowadays they can also use equipment to treat your ankle. I currently have tendonitis in my right foot, I'm having laser treatment and ultrasound treatment to help it clear up. If you can get to a specilaist joint doctor then that will help.

It may be a strength issue, or it may be a old injury you didn't realise wasn't healed properly.

It could be that you are getting the tech wrong, but if this happens every time and never on the other foot, it would point to a problem lying dormant. Get help before it gets worse.
