Yeah that works too, but really, learn to use a gun.

Bravo for the victim in this case who bravely fought back and ended the attack. However, it could just as easily have ended badly. Please, folks, learn to use a gun.

Woman fights back, hits rape suspect with shotgun
Posted: Jan 07, 2010 2:48 PM Updated: Jan 07, 2010 8:22 PM
STATESVILLE, NC - A woman who was attacked by a man already under GPS tracking as a sex offender fought back against the would-be rapist, stealing his shotgun and hitting him with it before calling 911, officials said Thursday.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday at a house on West Memorial Highway in the town of Harmony.

The suspect was a registered sex offender who had his GPS tracking device attached to him at the time, said Capt. Darren Campbell of the Iredell Co. Sheriff's Office said.

The incident began after the victim arrived at the house of the suspect and was offered alcohol and marijuana to smoke by the suspect, Campbell said.
...
Eventually, the victim was able to get free from the suspect and grab the shotgun the suspect had been wielding moments earlier.

The victim, who said she did not know how to fire the weapon, swung it like a baseball bat and cracked the suspect across the head, Campbell said.

The suspect fell on the floor and began to get up and come towards the victim again and she again used the shotgun to strike the suspect across the back multiple times to keep him on the floor and away from her, Campbell said.

Congratulations to the young lady for her will to act, but must agree on the need to learn guns.

Or if you can't learn to shoot a long gun at LEAST learn basic bayonet drill.

For future reference--Swinging a potentially loaded long gun in such a way that at the point of impact, the muzzle is pointed back at YOUR body is so stupid they're making jokes about it in Poland.

What if you crack 'em over the head and it discharges? Ouch.

Geeze. Basic firearms safety is so simple it can be summed up in one sentence:
Never point the barrel at anything you don't want to destroy.
Everything else is extra.

Now now, it doesnt SAY she hit him with the Butt. Only that she swung it like a bat. MAYBE she hit him with the barrel.

Oh, and Loading and Finding the Safety aside:

Firearms are the original Point and Click interface...

I am sincerely happy that this woman avoided being raped and/or harmed in any other way!

I do; however, feel that the use of firearms (including safety) should be covered and/or required just as traffic laws and safety guidlines are covered.

If you don't remember anything else, just remember that guns are just like cameras...

... just point and shoot!
