WEC drops 170 lbs. division in favor of 125 lbs. flyweight division

My only question is why? Doesn't that take away opportunities from the competitors at that division?
They'd have to seek out other mma companies who have a 170lb division. And to my knowledge that would be UFC.
I'd hate to think that a flyweight division would be more important then welterweights. Wouldn't you insteand want to keep the 170lb division, and add a flyweight division? Makes more sense to expand on the opportunities, instead of taking away opportunities in favor of another division.
